To provide a rotary compressor with remarkably improved performance by reducing space volume in a discharge opening delimited by a discharge valve and a valve seat.
The rotary compressor 1 comprises, in a hermetic container 12, an electric element 14, and a rotary compression element (rotary compression mechanism part) 18 driven by a rotary shaft 16 of the electric element 14. A support member (upper support member) 54 is disposed to close an opening in a cylinder 38. A valve seat member 32 is disposed between the support member 54 and the cylinder 38, and is provided with the discharge opening 32B in communication with a compression chamber (high pressure chamber) 38B in the cylinder 38, and the valve seat 32A about the discharge opening. The discharge valve 36 is mounted on the valve seat member 32 to abut the valve seat 32A and open and close the discharge opening 32B. The valve seat member 32 has a smaller thickness dimension than the support member 54. The discharge valve 36 is arranged in a valve housing portion 54A formed in the support member 54.
