To facilitate the working method of a tape lead and the inspecting discrimination thereof by providing plural tape guide means for keeping the reference running position of a magnetic tape in the manner of making the edge of magnetic tape abut on the guide surface of the peripheral surface of a fixed drum, and constituting this guide surface with the plane.
A chip-shaped head 111 is fixed onto the upper surface of the tip side of a head base 116, and this head 111 is housed inside an opening recessed part 111c which is formed on the bottom part 110c of an upper rotary drum 110, and the lower surface 111a is protruded by the prescribed amount from the outer peripheral surface 110a of the upper rotary drum 110. The tape is held by the tape lead (tape guide means) 120a positioned on the outer peripheral surface of the lower fixed drum 120, and the distance between the lower edge of the tape and the head is settled to the prescribed value so that the recording/reproducing operation is properly executed along the video format. Then, the tape leads 120a are discontinuously provided at the plural positions on the circumference of the fixed drum 120, and also the tape holding surface is formed to the plane along the pseudo lead angle.
