PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary joint requiring so drain pipe and easy for handling and the maintenance and inspection.
SOLUTION: This rotary joint includes an inner cylinder member 1 furnished with a plurality of longitudinal holes 3 and 4 whereto a stationary pipe is connected and an outer cylinder member 2 furnished with a plurality of oil grooves 5 and 6 formed circumferentially at the inside surface and arranged at a certain spacing at upper and lower parts and a plurality of ports 7 and 8 whereto a movable pipe is connected, wherein the inner cylinder member 1 is equipped with a drain collecting passage 17 to communicate the sliding surface above the uppermost oil groove 6 with the sliding surface below the undermost oil groove 5, and check valves 21 and 22 interposed between the oil grooves 5 and 6 and drain collecting passage 17. The check valves 21 and 22 hinder influx of pressure fluid from the oil grooves 5 and 6 to the drain collecting circuit 17 and admit influx of the pressure fluid from the drain collecting circuit 17 to the oil grooves 5 and 6.
