PURPOSE: To permit continuous printing even when the pitches of printing are changed without the need to exchange a printing cylinder by a method in which the circumferential speed of the printing cylinder is equlaized with the speed of papers when printing plate is in contact with the papers but properly selected when they are not in contact with each other.

CONSTITUTION: Papers 8 are fed with a fixed speed by a feed roll 20, printed, cut by a cutter 21, and then stacked up. The speed and amount of papers being sent are measured by a metering vehicle device 19, and by its signal, the drive variable-speed motor 16 of a printing cylinder 4 is controlled. The printing cylinder 4 is turned with the same speed as that of papers 8 in a necessary angle range vo and the speed and turning angle of the printing cylinder 4 are controlled in such a way that the cylinder 4 is completely turned one round with a given amount of paper fed in the next variable speed sectin x.
