A digital signal processor(DSP) 23 which can give operation and speed commands inputs a combination designation of printing units for grouping from an input device 35, and outputs a speed command for each of servo controllers 271-276 of the grouped printing units. The DSP 23 maintains a rate of change according to predetermined accelerating and decelerating times at the time of acceleration and deceleration. In operating at a fixed speed, the DSP maintains a time interval corresponding to the speed command and outputs a speed command signal. With the speed command signal of the DSP 23 as a desired control value, the servo controllers 271-276 input rotation angle signals of rotary encoders 291-296 as position feedback signals, and parallel processing of speed control is performed.
