Abstract:

PURPOSE: To set a wire rod at a high speed without damaging the surface of the wire rod and without shortening the life of guide nozzles by providing independently and freely revolvably the respective guide nozzles of a rotary setting device of the type in which a tool is rotated.

CONSTITUTION: The pitch and radial eccentricity between guide nozzles 2 are determined to meet factors such as the material, diameter, feed speed or the like of a wire rod (a) to be worked and a nozzle support disc 6 is adjusted according to the same to set the curvature of the wire rod (a) at an optimum value. Thereupon a rotary holder 1 is rotated to transfer continuously the rod (a), then the rod (a) receives the combined deformation of repetitive bending, stretching and twisting by the inside surfaces of the holes 2a of the nozzles 2 and is delivered while the wire rod is set. Since the nozzles 2 are respectively independently and freely revolvable, the nozzles 2 revolve by frictional force when sliding friction arises between the rod (a) and the inside peripheral surfaces of the holes 2a in the stage of applying the combined deformation. The rod (a) is thus kept free from the frictional force and the wear and damage on the surface thereof are prevented.
