To stop a rotary state at the home position of a front circle or back circle regardless of errors caused between the current position of the rotary stage and a position data.
In a rotary stage operation controller in which a motor 3 is driven by a motor drive means 4 to control the operation of a rotary stage 1, a current position of rotary stage detecting means 19 is provided at a rotating part of the rotary stage 1 to detect the position of a fixed point of the rotary state, current position checking switches 14a-14d are provided before the stop point of a front circle or an back circle. A comparison means 13 is provided and compares the current position determined by the current position of rotary stage detecting means 8 with a preset position date to determine the degree of deviation when a detection signal is inputted by the current position checking switches. Moreover, this means compares the degree of deviation obtained with a preset allowable deviation value to determine whether the degree of deviation is allowed or not.
