To transfer molten metal as it is to a casting process without shifting the molten metal after refining to a molten metal receiving ladle by a method wherein a small-sized refining furnace body is so designed as to be simply removed from a turnable and tiltable drive mechanism.
A rotary type refining apparatus has a container 3 for molten metal, connectively provided to tiltable trunnion shafts 1 in such a manner as to be turnable around the axial line of the trunnion shafts 1, and a rotary ring 2 connectively provided to each trunnion shaft 1 in such a manner as to be turnable, including its axial line in a plane normal to the tilting direction of each trunnion shaft 1. In this apparatus, the container 3 whose top end is formed into a cone shape has an opening at its central part and is connectively provided to the rotary rings 2 so as to be insertable thereinto from above the rotary rings 2 and withdrawable therefrom, and deviation-preventing means for regulating the deviation of the container are provided to the rotary rings 2. Thus, it is so designed that only the container can be taken out to be transferred without disassembling the trunnion shafts 1 and the rotary rings 2 and that the molten metal after refining can be directly poured into a mold without shifting it to another ladle, etc.
