To provide a rotating shaft water sealing device allowing easy work for replacing a packing and for maintenance and inspection without scattering parts during the work for replacing the packing and for maintenance and inspection.
The rotating shaft water sealing device comprises a plurality of sets of water sealing members 26a, 26b, 26c stored in a water sealing member casing 27 in the condition of being arranged side by side in the axial direction of a rotating shaft 23, wherein shaft water sealing is supplied from the back side of the water sealing member casing among the water sealing members to thrust the packing 32 against the outer peripheral face of the rotating shaft for water sealing. The tapered face of the packing 32 consists of a pressure working tapered face 33 and an abutting tapered face 34 tapered in opposition to the pressure working tapered face. The tapered face of a packing thrust member 36 is provided with a sliding tapered face 37 corresponding to the pressure working tapered face of the packing and a stopper face 38 corresponding to the abutting tapered face of the packing, the tapered face of the packing and the tapered face of the packing thrust member engaging with each other.
