Abstract:
To give users a comfortable sense of operations regardless of the rate of rotation of a knob.SOLUTION: A first signal output unit outputs a light receiving signal S01 with a signal level which changes according to the rotation of a knob. A second signal output unit outputs a light receiving signal S02 with a signal level which changes after the signal level of the light receiving signal S01 changed when the knob is rotating in a first direction and changes before the signal level of the light receiving signal S01 changes when the knob is rotating in a second direction opposite to the first direction. A rotation detection unit 62 detects the direction of rotation of the knob based on the sequence of the change of the signal level of the detection signal S11 and the change of the signal level of a detection signal S12. A determination unit 63 determines that the knob is rotating in the rotational direction detected by the rotation detection unit 62 when the changes of the respective signal levels of the detection signals S11 and S12 are detected in apparently the same interval of time when the rotation detection unit 62 is detecting the rotation of the knob.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
