To provide rubber compositions which is difficult to cause surface roughening even when extruded and have good abrasion resistance of carriage rollers to be obtained, and carriage rollers to be obtained from these rubber compositions.

A carriage roller 1 is constituted by molding/crosslinking a rubber composition. This rubber composition contains 100 pts.wt. rubber whose major component is an EPDM (ethylene/propylene/diene copolymer) polymerized with the use of a metallocene catalyst and 10-20 pt.wt. resin crosslinking agent. The molecular distribution (Mw/Mn) of this EPDM is not greater than 2.5. Further, the viscosity ratio (V100)/(V10) at 100°C of the EPDM is not smaller than 2.5E-2. This rubber composition contains zinc oxide, zinc carbonate, an alkylbenzenesulfonic acid or a metal halide as the crosslinking activator.
