To provide a rubber composition for a tire bead filler, which allows the tire bead filler to have both of low heat generation properties and high rigidity and to provide a pneumatic tire made by using the rubber composition.

The rubber composition for the tire bead filler (6) is obtained by blending 10-60 parts mass oil-extended white clay, 40 parts mass carbon black and 0.5-6.0 parts mass petroleum resin or gum rosin in 100 parts mass diene rubber so that the total amount of the oil-extended white clay and carbon black to be blended is 60-110 parts mass. The pneumatic tire having the bead filler made by using the rubber composition is provided.
