To obtain a rubber composition which give tire treads improved in dry steering stability and processability without detriment to wet braking performances by mixing a specified diene rubber with modified rosin and a reinforcing fillet.
This composition is prepared by mixing 100 pts.wt. diene rubber comprising 20-55 pts.wt. solution-polymerized styrene/butadiene copolymer rubber having a glass transition temperature of -35°C or above and 35-60 pts.wt. natural rubber or polyisoprene rubber with 1-30 pts.wt. modified rosin and 30-100 pts.wt. reinforcing filler. The modified rosin is prepared by modifying a rosin with maleic anhydride, fumaric acid, acrylic acid or cyclopentadiene. The rosin is desirably tall rosin. Although the reinforcing filler is carbon black or silica, carbon black is desirable.
