PURPOSE: A rubber composition suitably used for car tires that is made by adding a resin resulting from polymerization or copolymerization of cyclopentadiene to a diene rubber, thus having improved processability, adhesion in the unvulcanized state and giving the vulcanized rubber with increased mechanical properties.
CONSTITUTION: To 100pts.wt. of a diene rubber are added 4W40parts of a resin of 70W240 bromine value and generally 20°C or lower softening point that is obtained by polymerization or copolymerization of cyclopentadiene or a mixture of 5wt% or more cyclopentadiene and at least one selected from unsaturated hydrocarbons, preferably conjugated chain diolefin, in the presence of a catalyst system consisting of 1mole of a Lewis acid, preferably aluminum trichloride, and 0.5W5.0mol of an oxygen-containing electron donor, preferably alcohol, preferably a solvent type catalyst system including aromatic hydrocarbon, in an amount of 0.1W15.0wt% based on the monomers and they are kneaded.
