Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve the sealing performance and facilitate connection work by carrying out the compression and the reduction of diameter by forming the annular projecting and recessed stripes at the part of a rubber packing which makes contact with the tapered socket surface of a coupling body and bringing the recessed and projecting stripes into contact with the tapered socket surface in the tightening work for a pressing ring.
CONSTITUTION: The insertion port part 5 of a joint pipe 1 is inserted into a pressing ring 7, and interposed in the vacant cavity 4 of a socket part 3, penetrating through a rubber packing 13 held at the socket part 3 of a coupling body 2. A pair of joint pipes 1 are tightened each other through a coupling body 2 by tightening the pressing ring 7 by a bolt 11 and a nut 12. In this case, a plurality of annular projecting stripes 14 and a plurality of annular recessed parts 15 positioned between a plurality of annular projecting stripes 14 are formed at the part of the rubber packing 13 in contact with the tapered surface of the socket part 3. Accordingly, accompanied with the tightening of the pressing ring 7, the projecting stripes 14 are compressed, and the diameter is contracted by shifting the rubber packing 13 along the tapered surface of the socket part 3, having the projecting stripe 14 as fulcrum. Then, the recessed part 15 is brought into contact with the socket part 3, and the whole of the rubber packing 13 is compressed.
