PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a saddle stitch bookbinder that prevents an overstack of printed books and their supply failure such as picking error as well and purposes the efficient work of replenishing printed books and the alleviation of worker's load as well in a printed book supply unit of the introduced saddle stitch bookbinder.SOLUTION: This method is employed for managing a saddle stitch bookbinder that performs bookbinding by saddle stitching of booklets supplied and gathered by a plurality of printed book supply units 20 that supply the printed book 2a of the lowermost part of a bundle 2 of a flat stack of printed books 2a sequentially onto a transportation path 10, enables the acquisition of printed book information that represents information of the bundle 2 of the flat stack of printed books 2a to compare this printed book information with threshold information stipulated previously, so that the comparison result is reported outside when the printed book information exceeds the threshold information.
