Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image reproducing device capable of quickly detecting an image from a storage medium by controlling decoders and storing images.
SOLUTION: Pictures are seeked at the interval of I pictures to be 1st predicted picture data, I pictures are quickly detected by detection processing, a difference between current I pictures and preceding I pictures is calculated by a microcomputer 60 in each detection of I pictures and the interval of I pictures is registered by registering. Thus images can be quickly detected from a storage medium by controlling CD-ROM decoder 40 and an MPEG decoder 50 and storing respective images. When the interval of I pictures is sorted and registered in each recording unit, images can be quickly detected from the storage medium by controlling both decoders 40, 50 and storing images, so that the registration of images, in each recording unit can be smoothly executed. Time to be required up to restoration can be shortened by sorting the interval of I pictures independently of the number of detections or the length of seeking time.
