PURPOSE: To secure safety of passengers using a man conveyer and to prevent malfunction of a detector.

CONSTITUTION: Inside a moving handrail guide 2 for guiding a moving handrail 4 of a man conveyer, a plurality of detectors 4 are installed for controlling the man conveyer by detecting removal of the moving handrail 4 from the moving handrail guide 2. Also, a plurality of detectors 6 are installed in the neighborhood of borders between a curved part 2A of the moving handrail guide 2 close to the upper floor and a pair of straight line parts 2B with the curved part between them. By this, even when the moving handrail is removed at other than the center of the curved part, the man conveyer can be immediately stopped so as to improve safety. Also, malfunction of the detectors can be prevented through prevention of abrasion.
