Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a safety locking mechanism for positively locking a seat or a backrest even if high acceleration/deceleration is applied to the seat under a locking-off state.
CONSTITUTION: A screw 14 is rotatably installed on an upper rail 4. A nut 16 interlocking with a lower rail 2 or a backrest frame is threadably engaged with the screw 14. The screw lead of the screw 14 and the nut 16 is designed to at least the friction angle. Thus the screw is turned owing to a load applied the seat or the backrest, resulting in adjusting the back and forth position of the seat or the tilt angle of the backrest. Applying acceleration/deceleration exceeding the predetermined values to the seat urgently locks the screw 14 to retain the back and forth position of the seat or the tilt angle of the backrest.
