Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a thrust bearing generating no seizure, capable of coping with high-speed rotation and increasing the load capacity, and having a long life by feeding a pressure fluid to the pressure chambers of a piston, and receiving the thrust load with this liquid pressure.
CONSTITUTION: Pressure chambers 16, 18 are provided to face at least one-side faces 15, 17 of a piston 5 movably stored in the axial direction in a shaft box 6. A release chamber 20 is provided to face the periphery 19 of the piston 5 so that the sizes of gaps of aperture sections 22, 24 formed between the boundary section of the pressure chambers 16, 18 and the release chamber 20 and the shoulder sections 21, 23 of the piston 5 are changed in response to the movement of the piston 5 in the axial direction, and flow controllers 34 are provided on feed pipes 32, 33 connected to the pressure chambers 16, 18. The thrust load is not received via the contact of members, and the thrust load is received via the liquid pressure difference between the first pressure chamber 16 and the second pressure chamber 18. No seizure is generated, and the high-speed rotation of a shaft 1 can be coped with.
