A sand collecting method by a collecting device 20 is to collect a deposit g stack on a bottom 11 of a sedimentation tank 10 into a sand collecting pit 12 by a pressure water jetted from injection nozzles 31, 41, 51 which are arranged at the bottom 11 of the sedimentation tank 10. The sand collecting method is provided with a measuring process for measuring a thickness of the deposit g between the injection nozzles 31, 41, 51 and a sand collecting pit 12 by a measuring means 110A and a sand collecting process for collecting the deposit g to the sand collecting pit 12 by controlling the jetting of the pressure water from the injection nozzles 31, 41, 51 in accordance with the thickness of the deposit g.
