NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formulas IWVI (R is, in case of formula I, formula VII where the 3" and 4"-positions or 3" and 6"-positions in GlC are acetylated, in case of formula II, formula VII where 3" and 4"-positions or 4" and 6"-positions are acetylated, in case of formula III, formula VII where 2" or 3"-position in acetylated, in case of formula IV, formula VII where 3" and 4"-positions are acetylated, and in case of formula VI, formula VII where the 3"-position is acetylated; R1WR4 are combinations of cases where R1 is formula VIII, R2 is H, R4 is methyl and R3 is methyl, hydroxymethyl).
USE: Anticancer agent.
PREPARATION: A plant, BuPleurum Kunmingense is dried, the root is crushed and extracted with ethanol. The extract is distributed between water and butanol. The lipid in the butanol extract is removed with petroleum ether to give crude saponin. The saponin is treated with acetone and the individual objective compounds are obtained from the acetone-soluble fraction and the insoluble fraction.
