To provide a satellite communication adapter device which eliminates the necessity for a detection circuit which detects the transit to a program download mode, thereby attaining the reduction in size and weight of the device.
A DTE interface part 21 performs RS-232C interface with a personal computer 1. A circuit interface part 23 performs data exchange with a satellite telephone device 3, and is connected to a folded connector 27 instead of the satellite telephone device 3 in order that the device transits to a program download mode. A ROM 24 performs the storage and reading-out of a program. A RAM 25 temporarily saves the program in the ROM 24. A controlling part 22 controls the ROM 24, RAM 25 and the entire device. A satellite communication adapter device 2 has the DTE interface part 21, circuit interface part 23, ROM 24, RAM 25 and control part 22.
