To provide a scanning optical apparatus which allows the scanning line pitch in a subscanning direction to be certainly and easily adjusted with simple configuration without requiring increase in the size and the cost of the apparatus.
A pair of cylinder lenses 320 and 321 composing the scanning optical apparatus 3 are disposed at the end part side of an outer barrel 308 which is one side barrel of a combined barrel body 307 comprising an inner barrel 309 and the outer barrel 308, and at the end part side of the inner barrel 309, respectively, the inner barrel 309 being screwed into the outer barrel 308 so as to be fittable and rotatable to each other, thus the distance between the pair of the cylinder lenses 320 and 321 is adjustable. The centers of gravity of two guide rods 317 which are provided in a projecting condition at a lens mounting member 315 on which one cylinder lenses 321 is mounted are located at positions on the central axis of the lens mounting member 315.
