Abstract:
To provide a low-cost fingerprint detection system.
This scanning fingerprint detection system has an array 13 consisting of capacitive detection elements. The array 13 has a first size greater than the width of a fingerprint and a second size smaller than the length of the fingerprint. Each of the capacitive detection elements has a smaller size than the width of the ridge of the fingerprint. A circuit for scanning the array in order to capture images of a part of the fingerprint when the fingerprint is moved over the array 13 and for assembling the captured images into a fingerprint image is provided.
