Abstract:
PURPOSE:To attain an on-screen display without giving dispeasant feeling by changing the amplitude of an on-screen output signal and a background output signal gradually at least at one switching of on/off of an on-screen display on a reception screen of a television receiver. CONSTITUTION:A background output signal (a) of an on-screen character generator 1 passes through an open collector buffer 17 and the amplitude at a period (t) is divided by a ratio of a collector resistor 18 and an electronic variable resistor 16 to form a signal a'. On the other hand, the amplitude at the period (t) of a character output signal (d) of the on-screen character generator 1 is divided by a ratio of resistances R15, R20, R21 of collector resistors 20, 21 and an electronic volume 15. In erasing the on-screen display, a D/A converter 22 is controlled and its output voltage is controlled to be lowered gradually from a high value. The resistance of the electronic variable resistor 15, 16 is decreased and the background output and the character output signal during the period (t) are decreased. Thus, the channel number, sound volume and input mode are displayed without losing visual and aural feeling.
