To provide a screen printing apparatus which can secure good cleaning performance by using low-cost cleaning paper, and to provide a mask cleaning method.
When the cleaning paper 23 of low cost having anisotropic strength characteristics in which tensile strength in the longitudinal direction is higher than tensile strength in the width direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction is used, a cleaning head 21 arrangement method for pushing the cleaning paper 23 by a slender pushing surface 21a is arranged in a posture in which the longitudinal direction of the slender pushing surface 21a is inclined by a bias angle α to a standard direction perpendicular to a cleaning direction. In this way, the sliding direction of the cleaning paper 23 to a screen mask 12 can be prevented from being the width direction weak in tensile strength, and good cleaning performance can be secured by using the cleaning paper 23 of low cost.
