PURPOSE: To ensure a distinct pattern edge shape and a certain ink thickness by making a length of a sectional face of each yarn part in the direction of thickness longer than a length in the horizontal direction, in a material having a gauze consisting of warps and wefts which forms a pattern reverse to a printing pattern.

CONSTITUTION: On both faces of a metal plate 6, etching resists 7 are formed by photolithography, etc., and a pattern with which the thickness of the metal plate 6 becomes longer than a length between adjacent openings is formed. After etching is completed, the resists 7 are peeled properly so as to form a gauze 1 on a mesh where warps and wefts cross on the same plane. On one face of the gauze 1, a pattern having a shape reverse to a desired printing pattern is formed so as to make a screen printing plate. In the sectional shape of the warps and the wefts of the gauze 1, the length in the direction of thickness of the gauze is made to be longer than the length in the horizontal direction, so that the thickness of the gauze 1 is made to be thick without lowering the opening ratio, thereby thickening an ink thickness.
