Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To offer a seal part structure of an arc tube assuring an enhanced sealing effect in a sealed part.
SOLUTION: One side of a blocking piece 2 to block the open end of a bulb is joined with the bulb while the central part is penetrated by an electrode supporting shaft 4, and the composition of the blocking piece is prepared so as to be approx. the same as the coefficient of thermal expansion of the bulb in the side area to be joined with the bulb, and in the side area adjacent to the electrode supporting shaft, is made approx. the same as the coefficient of thermal expansion of the electrode supporting shaft, and the composition in the middle between the two side areas should exhibit gradual change from the coefficient of the side area to be joined with the bulb to the coefficient of the side area adjacent to the electrode supporting shaft.
