Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a device and method for extending the useful life of a seal.
CONSTITUTION: A seal apparatus includes at least one sealing surface (14, 16) and a resilient material (104, 106) having an engagement surface spaced from the sealing surface. A spring 30 is located to bias the sealing surface and a flexible material (88) is disposed in and about the spring in order to substantially increase the useful life of the resilient material.
