The sealing device of a rotary furnace is provided with a rotary drum I that is in a cylindrical shape and is rotated, a housing 2 that is arranged outside the rotary drum and avows the rotary drum to penetrate, and a packing box 4 that is mounted to the housing and surrounds the peripheral surface of the rotary drum. The sealing device is also provided with a rotary sealing member 5 that is provided on the inner-periphery surface of the packing box, slides on the outer-periphery surface of the rotary drum, and allows the rotary drum to be expanded in an axial direction, and an end face sealing member 3 that is included at the mounting part of the housing of the packing box to allow the rotary drum to be expanded in a diameter direction.
