Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing device for sealing an envelope by applying water to remoistening glue of the envelope that enhances a wetting performance of a pad for applying water to the remoistening glue.SOLUTION: A pad 6 formed of a water-absorbing material is composed of an inner first member 7 with high hydrophilia and an outer second member 8 with low hydrophilia, and a slit 11 along a water absorbing direction is formed in a part from the lower end part 21 of the first member to at least the water surface. By forming the slit, a contact area of the pad with water is increased, and the sucked water is sucked up effectively above the water surface to the upper end part owing to the quality of material of the pad by a capillary phenomenon of the slit. Even after the device is left unattended for a long time, water can infiltrate into the pad in s short time if water is provided to a water tank.
