PURPOSE: To obtain a sealing material having excellent workability and performance stability, free from problems of the inclusion of foreign matters into the sealed part and the contamination of the sealing material and producible at a low cost by collecting glass filaments having the composition of soldering glass.

CONSTITUTION: This sealing material is composed of a collected bundle obtained by collecting plural glass filaments having the composition of soldering glass. The collected soldering glass filaments can be produced by a method similar to the conventional continuous spinning of glass filament, e.g. by the winding with a winder while traversing with a spiral winder or by the direct roving method to directly wind the collected filament in an easily utilizable cylindrical form by using a sophisticated winding method. A binder is applied to the filament by a binder applicator in both cases to prevent the breakage of filament in spinning and the prevention of fluffing of the filament. A sealed product having high quality can easily be produced by efficiently performing the sealing in high workability and yield by the sealing method using the sealing material.
