PURPOSE: To obtain the SECAM discrimination circuit able to surely discriminate a SECAM signal and suitable for circuit integration without use of a ceramic filter with high accuracy and a resonance circuit whose resonance frequency is low.
CONSTITUTION: A multiplier circuit 19 multiplies a color difference signal inputted from a BPF 11 with a color difference signal delayed by 1H by a 1H delay circuit 12 to obtain a frequency difference component and a frequency sum component of a non-modulation carrier of the color difference signals and the components are outputted to a gate circuit 13. The gate circuit 13 is set through only for a color burst signal period of an input video signal by a burst gate pulse 300 and outputs the frequency difference signal component and the frequency sum component to a BPF 14. The BPF 14 extracts only the frequency difference signal component and it is outputted to a level detection circuit 15. The level detection circuit 15 detects a level of the frequency difference signal component and the result is outputted as a SECAM discrimination signal 800.
