Abstract:
PURPOSE:To make an exclusive air cleaner for a secondary air supply system unnecessary so as not to disturb a primary inflow of the atmosphere, by a method wherein the inner edge of a secondary air extracting pipe is made to open within an air purifying chamber in an air cleaner element, the external edge of which is connected with a connecting pipe with the atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:Exhaust pulsating pressure to be generated within an exhaust system Ex through an operation of an internal combustion engine passing through a downstream side secondary air supply pipe 16 acts upon a reed valve L, keeps a secondary air supply system A1 in a connecting condition by releasing a reed 25 of a reed valve 22 intermittently, and purified atmosphere in a purified air chamber (a) in an air cleaner element 27 is led into the front part of an exhaust pipe 11 of the exhaust system Ex through a secondary air extracting pipe 30, a duct 31, a connecting pipe with the atmosphere, an upstream side secondary air supply pipe 17, the reed valve L and a downstream side secondary air supply pipe 16, which mixes up with exhaust flowing in the exhaust system Ex and an unburnt harmful ingredient in the exhaust is made to reburn.
