PURPOSE: To attain perfect combustion by displacing residual gas with fresh gas by introducing secondary air from the outside into combustion chamber by pressure difference during engine operation.
CONSTITUTION: When negative pressure is produced locally and temporarity in the combustion chamber 22 during the explosion stroke of engine, secondary air put in the distributor 17 is passed through the introduction hole 21 of the noise suppressor 20 and introduced into the air passage 16 formed in the central electrode 10 provided at the firing point through the check valve 15. Through the air passage 16, the air goes into the deep of the combustion chamber 22 because of negative pressure produced immediately after the combustion of mixed gas. On the other hand, because of negative pressure produced during the rear period of exhaust stroke, secondary air is likewise introduced into the combustion chamber 22 and the comparatively low temperature secondary air replaces the residual gas. Also, overheating of the ignition plug A can be prevented by injecting secondary air from the central part by positioning the central electrode 10 below the earth electrode 3.
