To provide a secondary battery in which an electrode body maintains a proper amount of an electrolyte and no excessive electrolyte substantially exists around the electrode body, the secondary battery having excellent battery performance.
In a secondary battery 10 provided by this invention, an electrolyte absorption member 38 absorbing an electrolyte is disposed in a case body 30. An electrode body housing part 32 serving as a space for housing an electrode body 50 and an absorption member housing part 36, which is divided from the electrode body housing part and houses the electrolyte absorption member, are provided in the case body. The absorption member housing part has a movement communication port 37 allowing the excessive electrolyte to move from the electrode body housing part to the absorption member housing part.
