Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a security system for a magnetic card, to which no service nor payment that exceed the amount of the bond recorded at the issuance of the card, are made by updating and recording the difference between the balance recorded in a center machine and the amount of money entered at a terminal machine for the center machine and the card.
SOLUTION: When cash is insered, a card issuing machine 12 issues a prepaid magnetic card, on which data such as an identification number and the amount of money are recorded. At the same time, the data are transmitted to and recorded in a center machine 20. A terminal machine 14 reads various data recorded on the prepaid magnetic card which is inserted, and transmits the data to the machine 20. The machine 20 collates the recorded data and the data received and a signal, which indicates to authorize an operation, is returned to the machine 14 only when the data are collated to each other. Thus, the security system of magnetic cards, in which no service nor payment that exceed the amount of the bond recorded at the issuance of the card, is obtained.
