PURPOSE: To readily and efficiently extract and separate a liquid hydrocarbon based mixture without mechanical stirring, by bringing an O/W type emulsion of the liquid hydrocarbon based mixture into contact with an organic solvent in a specific vessel and selectively permeating and extracting a component having higher polarity into the organic solvent.
CONSTITUTION: An O/W type emulsion containing a liquid hydrocarbon based mixture as an inner oily phase is brought into contact with an organic solvent capable of dissolving the above-mentioned mixture in a contacting vessel forming a packed bed at ≥1.3 ratio of the volume occupied by the packed bed to real volume of porous packings and 1.1W10.0 ratio of the average pore diameter of the packings to the liquid droplet diameter of the O/W type emulsion to selectively permeate and extract a liquid hydrocarbon component having higher polarity from the emulsion droplets into the organic solvent.
