Abstract:
PURPOSE: To manufacture a self-curing binder for mold having the excellent strength at the initial time and the finish time and the good filling density showing the fluidity as a parameter of the molding workability of the blending sand and further the excellent workability at the time of molding and pouring molten metal because of a little of one nuclide compound as the low b.p. bringing about the order and served to the improvement of environment.
CONSTITUTION: The phenol and formaldehyde are reacted at 1:18mol ratio by using alkali metal hydroxide as a reaction catalyst and after neutralization with acid when the content of polymer compound having three or more of the nuclides reaches to 40-60wt.%, the water solution of the alkali metal hydroxide is added to the resin obtd. by water-washing so as to become ≤7wt.% the content of one nuclide compound as the water soluble compound and this system is made to PH12. Thus, the self-curing binder for organic ester curing type water soluble phenol resin mold in the range of 50wt.% non-volatile component is obtained.
