PURPOSE: To improve the lubricity of an Al composite material by impregnating a molten Al alloy into a ceramic molded body contg. a self-lubricant as a reinforcing material and solidifying the Al alloy.

CONSTITUTION: When a molten Al alloy as a matrix material is impregnated into a ceramic molded body as a reinforcing material and solidified to obtain an Al composite material, a prescribed amt. of a self-lubricant is mixed in the ceramic molded body. The lubricity and wear resistance of the Al composite material are improved, the lubricity can be improved while maintaining the low coefft. of thermal expansion comparable to that of existing cast iron and the high hardness and wear resistance and seizing can be prevented in need of oiling.
