PURPOSE: To enhance hardness, wear resistance and flaw resistance, to prevent peeling of a hard layer and lubricating layer and to assure excellent reliability by forming the hard layer and lubricating layer while suppressing a production cost to a low level.
CONSTITUTION: After copper is clad on the surface of a base metal 1 consisting of an aluminum material or aluminum alloy material, the base metal is subjected to a heating diffusion treatment, by which a Cux-Aly compd. layer 2 consisting of an intermetallic compd. of copper and aluminum is formed. At this time, a pure Cu layer 3 is made to remain as the lubricating layer on the extreme surface of this Cux-Aly compd. layer 2. The Cux-Aly compd. layer 2 is formed with the first layer to third layer respectively varying in hardness successively from the base metal 1 side. The hardness of the first layer among these layers is lowest and the hardness of the second layer is highest.
