Title:
SELF-SUPPORTING MECHANISM FOR ROTARY DAMPER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2739164
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a proper self-supporting function through the application of simple constitution by storing energy available from the deformation of a spring means surrounding an outer frame, resulting from the second needle of the frame being externally displaced, due to contact with the first needle fitted to a damper shaft.
CONSTITUTION: A rotary damper used for the open/close cover of a seat or the like, and keeping the opened cover in a self-standing state against a fall, has recessed rows 24 on a damper shaft 14 along an axial direction, and the first needles 26 are coupled to the recessed rows 24 from the external surface of the shaft 14. Also, axially extended slits 32 are formed on a cylindrical outer frame 30 coupled to the shaft 14, and the second needles 34 are loosely coupled to the slits 32. Also, a C-shaped spring means 40 surrounding the frame 30 and having inward elasticity is coupled. The shaft 14 rotates and when both of the needles 26 and 24 come in contact with each other, rotation is continued against torque due to the means 40, thereby providing a self-supporting function.
