Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately recognize a road where an own vehicle is travelling.SOLUTION: An on-vehicle system is configured to: when an own vehicle reaches a difficult area where aggregation of a plurality of roads makes recognition of the location of the own vehicle difficult (S310:Yes), generate characteristic data from a peripheral image of the own vehicle (S315); when judgement data corresponding to the road in the difficult area is stored (S320:Yes), identify a travelling road of the own vehicle in the difficult area on the basis of a degree of similarity between the judgement data and the characteristic data (S325,S330); after reaching the difficult area, identify the road where the own vehicle travels from the roads of the difficult area; and store the characteristic data as the judgement data corresponding to the identified road.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
