To collectively perform the selvage yarn treatment of raw fabric produced by a loom with a single inspection machine by attaching a selvage yarn treating apparatus to a woven fabric inspection machine instead of attaching to each loom.

This selvage yarn treating apparatus especially for a shuttleless loom is attached to a woven fabric inspection machine to perform the selvage yarn treatment. The apparatus is provided with a cutting apparatus with a rotary knife. The principal part of the cutting apparatus is composed of a rotary knife cutter 8, a belt 16 and a motor 17. A cutting position controlling part connected to the cutting apparatus keeps accurate cutting position by a position sensor 18, a cutting position adjusting apparatus 20 and a controller 19 and, accordingly, the cutting position adjusting apparatus is automatically actuated according to the variations of the width and the position of a woven fabric by a woven fabric position sensor placed under the rotary knife cutter to enable the cutting of the selvage yarn constantly to a uniform length by the rotary knife of the selvage yarn treating apparatus. The waste selvage yarn is collected through an air-sucking port into a separator by the action of an air-sucking apparatus and the sucked air is flowed to the air sucking machine to leave the waste selvage yarn.
