To provide a technology which can feed a stable DC voltage to a load by suppressing variation in a power supply voltage when a load current is abruptly changed, in a power supply device which is progressed in the tendency of a low voltage and a large current.
A power supply control IC 100 is included in a switching power supply device which feeds a prescribed constant voltage to the external load by on/off-driving a semiconductor switching element connected to a DC power supply in series thereto, and constituted of a semiconductor circuit which on/off-controls the semiconductor switching element. After a PWM on-pulse generated in synchronism with a switching cycle is terminated, and when an error voltage exceeds a first threshold voltage due to an abrupt increase of a current flowing to the load, a second PWM on-pulse is generated within the same switching cycle. Furthermore, the error voltage is switched to a second threshold voltage larger in value than the first threshold voltage in a plurality of times of switching cycles on and after a switching cycle generated by the second PWM on-pulse.
