PURPOSE: To provide a light-emitting element having a high luminous sufficiency by a method wherein almost all of lights emitted at luminous regions are assembled to a light taking-out part.
CONSTITUTION: A multilayer reflective film 3, a lower clad layer 4, an active layer 5, an upper clad layer 6 and a cap layer 7 are laminated on a substrate 2 and moreover, a reflecting lens layer 8 and a surface electrode 11 are provided on the layer 7. The layer 8 is split into concentric circle-shaped ring strips 8a, 8b,... (or, some of the ring strips) and an opening 13 in the center of the ring strips is made to coincide with a light taking-out window 12. Moreover, a light reflective surface 10 is formed on the upper surface of the layer 8, the light reflective surfaces 10 of the ring strips 8a, 8b,... are slanted to the surface of the semiconductor substrate 2 and lights reflected on the light reflective surfaces 10 are brought close to the side of the window 12.
