Abstract:

To obtain a semiconductor pumping solid-state laser, wherein a semiconductor laser is protected at the time of pulse operation, time delay to a pumping current is small, rise time is short, and peak output larger than the power at the time of continuous operation can be obtained.

A pulse current is made to flow in a semiconductor laser 1. A solid-state laser medium 3 is excited by a pumping light from the semiconductor laser 1, and laser output of pulse oscillation is obtained. In this semiconductor pumping solid-state laser 11, a pulse current control means 5 is installed, which sets a current value exciting the semiconductor laser 1 at the time of non-oscillation a value slightly smaller than the current value corresponding to the oscillation threshold value of the solid-state laser 11, and makes a current having the value slightly, smaller than the current value corresponding to the oscillation threshold value of the solid-state laser 11 to flow in the semiconductor laser 1 at the time of non-oscillation.
