Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent the lowering of tight contact between both a cylinder sleeve assembly and a cylinder block body caused by shrinkage of molten metal for cylinder block body, at the time of inserting the cylinder sleeve assembly into the inner part of the cylinder block body as cast-in.
CONSTITUTION: By pouring molten aluminum alloy into a cavity between the outer surface of the cylinder sleeve assembly 3 connecting plural cylinder sleeves 31 and the inner surface of a core 143 for forming water jacket, a cylinder barrel assembly 4 of the cylinder block body is cast. Then, a bridging part 16 is integrally formed in the cylinder barrel assembly 4 so as to bridge a deck surface across both sides of connecting part of the adjacent cylinder sleeves 31. Even if the shrinkage force in the arrow mark (a) direction in the A range of the cylinder barrel assembly 4 acts at the time of solidifying the molten metal 19, the shrinkage force in the arrow mark (b) direction caused in the bridging part 16 acts against the former shrinkage force, the development of gap between the cylinder sleeve assembly 3 and the cylinder barrel assembly 4 is prevented.
