To provide a semitransmitting reflective polyester film giving excellent visibility of a liquid crystal display for both of transmitted light and reflected light and suitable for a liquid crystal display.
The semitransmitting reflective polyester film has at least ≥40% reflectance for the all beams at a wavelength of 550 nm, at least ≥20% transmittance for the all beams at the above wavelength, with ≥80% sum of the reflectance and transmittance of the all beams and the film is produced by uniaxially stretching. The polyester film contains one of the following materials by 0.1 to 30 wt.% to the polyester film. The materials are (a) a planar filler having 0.5 to 200 μm average major diameter and aligned at ≤30° alignment angle in the plane direction of the polyester film in the film, (b) a dispersion phase of a thermoplastic resin except for polyesters and having ≥2 shape coefficient in the polyester film, and (c) spherical particles having 0.5 to 200 μm average particle size.
